Ady Scotland

NEWS UPDATE: Thursday June 2nd 2011. The guys are now on Day 3 of their 4 day challenge.  They finished cycling last night after 11PM and that was after a 6AM start!  Blimey they didn’t even stop to find out who Alan Sugar had fired on The Apprentice.  Today they are riding through Scotland.  The cash is now well over £2000 but we need an extra effort from you guys to show your appreciation for their efforts.

My Dad (John Dench) sadly passed away on 10th December 2010, only 2 months after a brain tumour was diagnosed.  The tumour proved to be untreatable, and as a result my Dad was allowed to come home for the last few weeks of his life.  The care he received, at home, from both the Marie Curie and St Baranabas nurses proved to be exceptional.  We will forever be in gratitude to these selfless people who put both the care of the patient and the family to the fore in such distressing times.

Lands End to John O’Groats has been an idea for a few years now, and this family tragedy has given me the drive and ambition to do it.  I’ve roped in a good mate, Andy ‘Woody’ Turner, who will ride the whole route with me.  We’re also roping in a few mates to drive my van, which will be the support vehicle throughout the trip. We start from Lands End on May 31st 2011 so wish us well.

The aim is to complete the ride within 4 days.  That’s 220 miles per day!!
